Inspired by true events, this uplifting tale about
mentoring relationship showcases Oscar-winner Cuba
Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris as two diverse individuals
whose lives had not only crossed but touched as well.
Gooding Jr. is perfectly cast as a mentally challenged
young man whose life remains monotonous until noticed
by the popular high school football coach Harold Jones
(Harris). Upon initial encounter, the rigid but
good-natured coach takes an immediate fondness to
James Robert Kennedy (Gooding Jr.) – nicknamed ‘Radio’
because of his penchant for vintage radio – and becomes
contributory in Radio’s struggle to be regarded as a highly
endowed character amidst the high school hallways and beyond…
Radio will definitely leave you teary-eyed in your seat even
as the credits roll by; Nevertheless, I dare you not to cry.
*This is the first ever article that I wrote for AC Times.
